February 14 - Australia: Cairns, Queensland

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today was a "study day" for us.  I say "study day" because I actually spent the whole day typing up a week and a half's worth of journals.  And Jon spent two hours online trying to order some running gear from Road Runner Sports, whose website is an absolute DOG.  We ended up calling them internationally just to place our order.  And somehow, Jon weaseled a 5% discount out of them because of the trouble.

Jon hasn't been feeling well for the past two days.  Either it's a stomach virus or something he ate, but he's sticking to crackers for the rest of the day.  Poor boy.

We did manage to get a little studying in, but we're having a hard time motivating.  The Theory Exams are tomorrow night (what a way to spend a Friday evening!), but that still hasn't done much to get us to study hard.  Granted, it's not rocket science.  But I'd rather go into it feeling completely confident.

After the Instructor Exam

I did get to Coles to do a big grocery trip.  The Instructor Exam is finished on Sunday, and on Monday morning Jon and I are going to get up early to drive out to Alice Springs.  This is the nearest major location to Ayres Rock.  The drive will take about three days just to get there, and three days to get back.  So we'll be cutting it close, as Jon's friend Mike happens to be arriving in Cairns the week later.

The drive itself is going to be pretty dull.  There's nothing in the middle of Australia except for kangaroos and wallabies.  Sort of like driving through Kansas for three days straight.  Should be lots of fun!

OK.  Enough procrastinating.  Now I HAVE to study.
