June 2 - United States: Las Vegas, Nevada

We were all so exhausted from our busy date and late night yesterday that there was no movement in our room until about 10:00AM this morning.

Ketron had to leave and head back to LA today, but she wasn't in any rush to go.  Her office starts "summer hours" tomorrow, which means she'll only have to work 9:30-4:00.  (Note to self: get job at university.)  So our big plans are to hit the pool again.  Jon went downstairs and picked up some Krispy Kremes again, and after we'd all done justice to the box Ketron and I headed downstairs.

We snagged some lounge chairs by the water misters again, and because it was overcast we were a bit chilly at first.  But soon the sun came out and we hit the water every few minutes to cool off.  Jon, before coming to meet us, made some phone calls to friends about the final Lakers/Kings game tonight.  Then he put down $20 on the Lakers and met us at the pool.

We all hung out at the pool until 3:40, when Jon persuaded us to dine on In 'N Out Burger while we watched the game.  That wasn't difficult to do, since the burgers are great and fit our budget.  But we had to be difficult, and so we whined until he offered to go pick it up.  In return, we said we'd stop by the McDonald's in the casino to get fries.  (In 'N Out fries aren't anything to write home about.)  So we synchronized our watches to be back in the room at 4:00 on the nose.

Unfortunately, Jon altered those plans by losing the mobile phone.  So he spent those 20 minutes hunting around the room for the phone, and when he couldn't find it he came out to tell us it was gone and then left to get our burgers.  When Ketron and I got back to the room we simply picked up her mobile phone, dialed our number, and listened for the ring.  The ringing came from deep inside his bag, beneath layers and layers of clothes.  (No idea how it got there.)

Jon came back around 4:45, after the game had just gotten underway.  The three of us spent the next few hours watching the very exciting Game 7 and rooting for the Lakers all the way.

Hard Core Lakers Fans (at least when the money's right)

Of course, the Lakers won in overtime and Jon gloated about his betting finesse for a good 20 minutes.  Since it was 7:30 and Ketron had yet to leave for her five-hour drive to LA, we walked her out to her car and waved good-bye.  The next time we'll see her, she'll be a law school student at William & Mary!

Then we went back into the room and packed for our departure tomorrow.
