April 7 - United States:

Heidi: Los Angeles, CA

Jon: Harrisonburg, VA to Nashville, TN (ok, a tiny town 20 miles west of Nashville)

Ketron woke up this morning moaning that she didn't feel well.  I told that this was probably to be expected, considering the quantity of whiskey sours and Kettle One Cosmopolitans she'd had the night before.  But as it turns out, she was achy and feverish.  When she took her temperature, the thermometer showed 101°.  Poor girl.  So she stayed in bed and we watched "The Fast and Furious".

Later, I drove into Venice Beach to find the "Global Gossip Internet Cafe" I knew was there.  Venice Beach was about an hour away, and I drove along Santa Monica Blvd to get there.  I spent a good two hours at the Internet Cafe before I headed back to Ketron's house.  There, we had tomato soup and toast for dinner and watched TV.  She was still running a fever, so we decided that she shouldn't go into work tomorrow.

Another in a series of guest appearances by Jon

The trip to LA begins

I left Harrisonburg after lunch and finally hit the road around 1pm which was much later than I had intended.  Lunch was great; I bought 13 everything bagels for breakfast while I was on the road and got veggie cream cheese too for the trip.

While driving I only stopped once while driving 8 hours and that was to buy gas and a much needed bathroom stop.  I ate my bagel sandwich from H'burg for lunch while driving so I could hopefully get west of Nashville so I wouldn't have to worry about traffic when I leave tomorrow morning.  I ended up driving 540 miles driving down I-81 until I got to I-40 in Knoxville.  I-40 is supposed to be the most boring part of the drive, I'm on this all of the way to California.  The only cool thing about I-40 is that it constantly crosses over and intersects with the old Route 66.
